Temple Israel is a historic, conservative congregation on Hollywood Blvd., with nearly 1,000 families. The temple was formed in 1926 by seven men, including five who were prominent in the film industry. For more info, check out the Temple Israel website.
What do we love about Temple Israel? We could start with the big, grand theater-like setting of the sanctuary or the 70-year-old torah that was saved from the holocaust, but in a word, we have to go with music.
Temple Israel Hollywood Bar/Bat mitzvahs have lots of music, from the organist who opens the services, to the bar/bat mitzvah child singing songs with the cantor and rabbi's. (That's Allison above on the bima, singing "Sholom Alecheim," with the clergy.)
