Right off San Pedro's Gaffey Street, on 7th, is the historic Mary, Star of the Sea church, built in 1958. It currently serves 5,000 families in San Pedro and Rancho Palos Verdes. If you're driving down the street, you can't miss her. A 10-foot bronze statue of Mary, her arms outstretched toward the Port of Los Angeles is a great landmark if you get lost. Just look for statue atop the bell tower.
